    Authors: Morriss R, Price L.

Published In: Journal of Affective Disorders. 2020, 277: 785-788.

    Device: Alpha-Stim®

    Overview

This study examined the differential effects of Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) on changes in anxiety and depression symptoms over time in patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Sustained effectiveness required a CES response to anxiety symptoms in the first 4 weeks and improvement in depression symptoms by 12 weeks.

    Conclusions

The study provides evidence supporting the sustained effectiveness of CES for treating generalized anxiety disorder, particularly noting the timeline of symptom improvement for both anxiety and comorbid depression.
